Just Pay Ashley Greene The Damn Money, Summit

Summit Entertainment Contract Negotiations (Ongoing)

So Kira has brought to my attention the fact that contract disputes are holding up the announcement that there will, in fact, be two Breaking Dawn films, and apparently Summit is talking about kicking the agitators, Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) and Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen) to the curb. What. Lutz, I can take or leave this guy. But Ashley Greene? Are you kidding me with this Summit? STOP IT. JUST STOP IT. Via Vulture:

While Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen) and Billy Burke (Charlie Swan) have agreed to deals, a few of the younger stars - like Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene - are looking for raises similar to those Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner received, and have laughed off offers representing at least 10 times what they made on the first film.

I am genuinely kind of worried about this a little. What is wrong with me that I am kind of worried about this a little?

On the one hand, no one needs anywhere near as much money as I am sure these people are making already. And ten times what they made before? That is probably good enough. And Alice Cullen doesn't need money. She likes things like dynamite, and gunpowder, and gasoline. You know what those things have in common? They're cheap!

Then again they probably only made like ten dollars for the first movie if the makeup and production budget were any indication, and a hundred dollars is still not that much money. And it's not unreasonable, if Pattinson and Stewart and Lautner got raises, to ask for one too. It's fair, if not exactly just. And back in the day I'm pretty sure a bunch of West Wing cast members did this same thing because Rob Lowe was making way more money than all of them. So if John Spencer did it (RIP) then Ashley Greene can do it too. (WWLD, am I right?)

Good luck out there, Ashley Greene. If Summit fires someone to make a point I hope it is Kellan Lutz. Then again, the primary audience for this film is more interested in things with penises, so maybe you should back down.

The more I think about it, the more this whole story sort of seems planted by Summit. Why use a weird figure like ten times what they made on the first film? Because it sounds unreasonable, right? What did they make for New Moon? Did they make 6 or 7 times what they made for Twilight? You see what I'm saying? This whole story seems like a leak designed to intimidate Lutz and Greene. That's politics, I guess.

According to EW, they're each asking for $4 million a film after Summit offered $1 million.

Which just seems like a crazy amount of money, but at the same time not really that much compared to other movie salaries.

Personally, I'd rather they fire Lutz, too. I never liked him as Emmett.

All the fuck that's mit to rake over here, huh? I trust we will all monitor this situation closely. I just want to say that my picture illustrates this story much better than these other news outlets... what the hell is going on with Kellan Lutz's face in that EW story, huh?

I agree that Lutz is not like, super necessary, but I'm glad he got behind Ashley Greene on this, even if it was just so he could get behind Ashley Greene.

These movies make 4 million in their first thirty seconds of release. New Moon just made 4 million in DVD sales while I was typing that sentence. Cough it up, Summit.

Yeah, he looks very smarmy in that picture. Maybe he's trying to seduce them into giving him the money.

Oh, I'll monitor the shit out of this because it's a hell of a lot more interesting than what I'm supposed to be doing at work right now. Reuter's said that the first two movies have brought in $1.1 billion. The $16 million they'd need to keep Greene and Lutz is, like, nothing compared to that. Lame, Summit. Super lame.
