CATCHING UP: Big Fan Edition

As previously noted, @FuckUJashley and @TrashTheAshley are dead and gone. A few (by no means exhaustive) glances at the tweets directed at Ashley Greene yield nothing one would qualify as hateful. That doesn't mean you don't see some sketchy shit, though!
YIKES! We'll keep an eye on that. When questioned about it on Tumblr recently, I tried to explain the motives behind my coverage of Ashley Greene. For one thing, a bunch of other places already covered Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. But the other reason was the way clear narratives kept emerging every few months after I somewhat arbitrarily started. The Jashley phase and subsequent Twitter campaigns against AG were particularly useful in exploring the phenomena I wanted to explore. I wrote:

That seems to be all over now, and hopefully I can just do what I originally intended to do: write about some movies she is in. Because the story of Ashley Greene took a weird turn: she is fast becoming not an emerging actress but rather someone who is famous for no reason. She is in tabloids a lot, but her movies have been pushed back and pushed back literally YEARS. Skateland and The Apparition and Butter will maybe NEVER come out. Can you imagine working on a bunch of movies, going on talk shows and having hosts fawn about how you have so many projects coming out, only to have none of them ever be released?

What led me to pick AG initially, if not the painted-on bathing suits, was her weird penchant for telling conflicting stories about her history in interviews. It was very Don Draper. But that narrative hasn’t really panned out (yet, though her brief gaunt/dead-looking phase after which she returned to banging Kings of Leon and Captains America was a little mid-season four Draper). That it instead became about Disney and the insidious nature of the Jonas Brothers was surprising to me, but that it’s becoming a Party Down episode now is even more surprising.

I mention this again because there's a kind of cool Skateland poster out now, but I'm not sure it really warrants mentioning that sort of thing until it's clear that movie is really coming out. I swear I wasn't being ironic when I said, in the first Biterion Collection post, that I was looking forward to monitoring these emerging careers. I'm kind of bummed that they're not emerging! This is depressing!

Speaking of the Biterion Collection, though, what do you want to do next?

Have you ever seen Panic Room? It has a much younger Kristen Stewart in it.

I watched The Cake Eaters last night. It was interesting, I feel like there would be a lot to discuss.
