Cat Marnell On A Hot Tin Roof

I'm out of the Jonas/Twitter/Hollywood game, I swear I am, but I did want to bring your attention to ONE LAST THING. So Cat Marnell is a writer* at XOJane whom I follow not-quite obsessively but close to obsessively? We follow each other on Twitter, OK? It's NBD. ANYWAY I have linked to Cat's funny, scary, sad articles before, and like everything else I write about Joe Jonas came to find HER this week. What happened was, she smoked weed with him. Oh shit, I guess I should have made sure you guys were sitting down first. I mean, who reads standing up, but what do I know maybe you work as a steveadore and you stand up and your desk so you can see what's happening on the pier. It's not my job to guess what you do for a living OK? The point is, I'm sorry if that news knocked you on your ass.

(*Several articles about this controversy have used the term "blogger" with as much sneery connotation as possible. Remember when Oh No They Didn't called me "some guy"? It's a level above that. But lady was a former editor at Lucky, OK? I have heard of that magazine and I am a dude. So.)

Yeah, Joe Jonas smokes weed. DUH? I mean, he is a Hollywood Celebrity and Hollywood Celebrities Do Drugs. I have that on a t-shirt, I think. Even the ones who sell promise rings along with the deluxe editions of their records do drugs, crazy I know. The biggest surprise to me was that it seemed like Joe was pretty new at smoking weed; to hear Cat/Cat's friend tell it, he was very polite and unsure about policy and procedure. But OBVIOUSLY this news came as a surprise to some, and the Jonas mob reacted in standard Young Republican fashion: denial, pitchforks, lather, repeat.

How sad is it to see all of this happening again? People grow up eventually, right? Or do they? I mean, did you see that GOP debate last night? HEYOOOOOO. Anyway, this is happening, and Marnell is following up on it anyway, and you should really read her articles anyway. So (anyway) go do that. And let's all hope this doesn't reach this kind of hysteria again.
